Who We AreThe Wesley Foundation at Tarleton State University is a ministry of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. We are located in the Brownwood District. Funding comes from both the Central Texas Conference and the Brownwood District. Many of the congregations nearby are also supportive, supplying meals and other needed support. We are here to serve the students, faculty, staff and administration of the university in whatever way we may. We offer Christ in the United Methodist tradition. If you aree looking for a label for us, you will probably be disappointed - we encourage everyone to be faithful as they can best follow their faith and ask that everyone respect the differences between us all. We offer a variety of activities and seek to develop leaders for the Church and our society. Check out what we offer and if you fail to see what interests you, then let us know. We can probably help you in getting it organized. No one remembers when we actually began as a campus ministry. Our roots were in a Sunday school class organized by First United Methodist Church in Stephenville. We have been an active group since at least 1928 (we have the class certificate from the Methodist Church on our wall today). We have been through a number of building changes through the years. The current structure was built in 1959 with the latest expansion in 1990. We offer a kitchen if you need a snack or a place to bake something, plenty of space for organizations to meet, a ping pong table, pool table, TV and DVD player. Let us know how we might be of service. Or even better, come serve Christ with us. Staff: Norman Suggs, Campus Minister/Director Jennifer Douglass, Student Assistant |
